A new bot, and a new game!
Jester has programmed a home-made bot! Inside it, we've created a game for the Ark! Travel space, collect valuables, open crates to get pets, and be #1 on the leaderboard!
Server tags are back — show your Refuge pride
Server tags are up and running again — take yours and rep the Refuge. They're made possible by our Server Boosters, so if you've been thinking about boosting, now's a great time: boosting is what keeps perks like this active for the whole community.
@Recruiter are happy to walk you through applying the Refuge server tag — reach out to them if you run into any issues.
Two new voice channels are live
Ark Hideaway and The Cellar (NSFW) have opened for voice — both capped at four members at a time, built for smaller, calmer spaces instead of a room of ten people talking over each other. Ark Hideaway is a tucked-away room for closer company, a quieter alternative to the Refugee Lounge for late-night talks or small groups. The Cellar sits beneath The Basement — a darker, more intimate corner for a handful of Basement regulars to disappear into when the main room gets busy.
Staff team is hiring — moderators, events creators & recruiters
Thank you for being here — this community has been a real success so far, and there's still plenty of work ahead to make the Refuge a true home. Its future depends on members running it: unique events, podcasts, discussions, and above-average moderation led by people, not bots.
We're interviewing this week for @Moderator positions — DM to apply. It's unpaid and a real time commitment, so only apply if you can commit to the workload; all applicants are eligible, though staff from other departments will take precedent.
We're also hiring @Events Creator for anyone who wants to start and run their own events — a lighter process, just a proposal to get approved. Bring your podcast, stream your games, run something nobody's tried yet — whatever it is, we can't wait to join.
Most of all, we're looking for more @Recruiter — the ambassadors who market the Refuge to new members: welcoming newcomers, managing social media, and tracking activity and retention. For a lot of our leaders, this is the first staff role that leads to promotions and bigger things.
The Refuge is a community-first server, above all — our focus is on the people that matter: you. Every one of these roles takes some time commitment, but comes with training, one-on-one leadership support, and a team working toward the same goals and values. Answer the call and join the Refuge Ark staff team today.
